Website FAQs

Yes! All websites designed by Haunted Mesa Web Design are mobile responsive. This means that they will look great on laptop, tablet and smartphone.
Yes. I frequently work on websites built by someone else. To do this, I will need access to your the backend/dashboard of your website and, depending on the changes, your hosting account to make revisions. My fee for updates to existing websites is $60 per hour. Keep in mind that depending on the age of your website and the number of changes needed, it may be more cost effective to rebuild your site.
I use WordPress to build new websites. Why? Because with thousands of plugins, themes, and options available, WordPress is one of the most robust Content Management Systems (CMS) on the web. Another huge advantage is that WordPress is easy for you to maintain. As part of the development process, I will train you on how to make changes to your website using the WordPress administrative login. If you prefer to have someone else do the maintenance, I offer affordable WordPress care maintenance packages.
There is no simple answer for this. Creating a website is a united effort. I supply the design and technical expertise, and you provide the content, including text and images. A number of variables, including complexity (is it a e-commerce or membership site?) and the size of the site impact the amount of time that it takes to complete. The timeline provided in your proposal is based on the assumption that the content will be available at the beginning of the project. The average timeline for a simple, six to ten page site is 6 weeks including testing and review.
No. Whenever possible, I recommend keeping your existing domain name. As long as you own your domain name (your web address or .url), it can be used for your new website. If you change your domain name for branding reasons, web page redirects will help keep your page ranking intact.
No. I build the new website on a development or staging site so that your current website remains functional. When I upload the new site, there may be a short window when service is disrupted, but I generally do this late in the evening when web traffic is lower. If all goes smoothly, and it usually does, the new website will be up with little interruption.
My websites are developed for modern, advanced browsers, including Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. Unfortunately, older versions of Internet Explorer (older than IE 9) are not guaranteed to be compatible with all features on your new website.
The proposal includes support and WordPress training for five to 10 business days following launch for all new websites. I also offer maintenance packages that include regular WordPress, theme and plugin updates and minor tweaks to the content.
If you have an existing website, you can continue to use your current web host. For new web sites, you can choose a your own host (I can give you some recommendations!) or go with Haunted Mesa’s hosting with SiteGround for a reasonable annual fee. Hosting is not an area where you should go with the cheapest solution. Bad hosting companies can cause ongoing problems. I recommend checking the reviews for any hosting company you are considering.
